Hey y'all. Just want to encourage you to listen to this sermon from Dr. Mike Mowery on ending spiritual drought in our lives. I do not know about you, but I personally have experienced spiritual drought and can honestly say that I am going through that at this very moment. That is a personal prayer request I can throw out there, if y'all would pray for me regarding this area of my life.
In his sermon, Dr. Mowery notes there are three things we must do if we want to end the spiritual drought in our lives. First, we must surrender unconditionally to the Lordship of Christ in our lives. Second, we must cut the ties we have with all evil influences, even if that means we must make some radical changes. Lastly, we must cry out to God until He restores our soul.
It is a really good sermon that helps you focus on what must take place if we want the spiritual drought in our lives to come to an end. So if you want to hear the sermon, it is linked here. On the homepage of FBC Grapevine, there is a box on the right side that says last weeks message. Click on the "Listen" button, and then if it is not already selected for you, select the message titled "Ending a Spiritual Drought" from July 12.

Just finished listening to Mike's sermon. I will listen to it again when I can actually take notes but the content is necessary for each one of us. There's almost too much to process. I would encourage anyone looking attthis blog to take the time to listen and then apply what you heard. It doesn't give one a warm fuzzy but it sure does give you plenty to ponder. Thanks for the post and for your willingness to pass on what you are learning. Blessings on you!
I had a long spiritual drought the summer after I served as a college summer missionary. I call it my "Valley of Dry Bones." Looking back, I know that I was dry b/c I was pouring out constantly but not allowing anyone else to pour into me. The two things that helped me to survive that time were 1) staying consistent in prayer and Bible study even when I did not feel like it and 2) seeking ways to minister to others going through similar pain (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Keeping our eyes on Christ and not on our circumstances is crucial!
Love you!
Thank you all for the words of encouragement! I like how you said, Dana, that you would stay consistent in prayer and Bible study even when you did not feel like it. That is something I think we all need to be more diligent about, especially myself. I heard a preacher this past week say something to the effect of, God is worthy of prayer, Bible study, service, etc, irregardless of how we feel, and he is right. It is a lesson that I know I am continuously learning.
